Banbury Eyesore cleaned up by Labour’s Ruscote Councillors

Over the last five years the garages off Penrose Drive have become dilapidated – empty and vandalised garages, anti-social behaviour and a favoured fly-tipping site.

Banbury Town Councillor Steve Kilsby, Chair of the NAG committee which liaises with the neighbourhood police, and Labour’s Ruscote Councillor Mark Cherry have lobbied the owners, Sanctuary Housing to sort the mess out.

Within the last six months the garages have been demolished and a perimeter metal fencing surrounding the site and stopping fly tipping.

Mark Cherry has raised a question at full council to mandate Cherwell District Council Leader Barry Wood to work with Sanctuary Housing to make it viable to build social housing on the site.

Mark Cherry said, “This has been an admiral effort from all Labour’s Ruscote Councillors to rid Banbury of this eyesore and provide the potential for much-needed social housing on the site.”
