Banbury Town Councillors Diane Johnson and Steve Kilsby ran a successful ‘street surgery’ around the Woodgreen leisure complex in July. Diane said, “We used our litter clear-up drive as an opportunity to chat to local residents and in this informal way learned a lot about people’s concerns.”

Steve Kilsby, Leader of the Labour Town Council group, said “The kind of things affecting the people we spoke to included the quality of the local environment. We were asked about tree management, rubbish removal and fly tipping and problems over unauthorised car parking. On several of these matters there was confusion about whether they were the responsibility of Cherwell District Council or Housing Associations. Therefore, establishing who is responsible will be one of our first priorities so that we can address the issues effectively.”
