51 of the NHF’s biggest members found more than half of their residents affected by the bedroom tax – 32,432 people – could not pay their rent between April and June
Labour have pledged to abolish the tax if they gain power but in the meantime 180,000 households deemed to be “under-occupying” with two bedroom homes compete for only 85,000 one-bed homes that became available in 2012.
