Army Veterans and the Stress of Active Service

Clive Lewis, the BBC reporter, is one of Labour’s newest MPs and a supporter of Jeremy Corbyn. What’s not widely known is that he was a Lieutenant in The Army Reserves and served a harrowing tour of duty in Helmand, Afghanistan back in 2009. Here he gives a personal account of his experiences in battle and the impact that they had on his emotions and mental wellbeing. Given the growing crisis in Syria, it is a timely personal account which lays bare some of the issues facing our servicemen when they serve our country on the battlefield.
