Our Banbury Labour County Councillors, Mark Cherry, Surinder Dhesi, John Christie and Mike Beal joined a cross-party alliance to express deep concerns to the Government about their future planes for the health service and adult social care.

They passed a motion in full council (Dec 2016) criticising the Government’s Sustainability and Transformation plans (STP) for Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West, in which they say, “…Consultation with Oxfordshire has been derisory with the full plan not having been made public during the numerous meetings which have been held.”

Cllr Mark Cherry said, “There seems to be little consultation involving people at the local level – the NHS workforce, the public or local politicians – but the implications of STP for our hospitals and adult social care could be disastrous.

In passing this motion and securing cross party support, Labour continues to lead the fight to protect our NHS and Care Services.”
